Betrayal- (Noun) the action of betraying one’s country, a group, or a person; treachery
You trust different when you’ve been crossed, you appreciate everything more when all you’ve known is loss…
I remember the day down to the very hour
This is the first time your love turned sour
You stabbed me in the back with the knife I have for protection
Targeted my innocence with your natural selection
You looked me in my eyes, and they were the darkest they’ve ever been
But the smile on your face told me in you I had a friend
A place I felt safe became a prison I couldn’t escape
My sweetest dream turned nightmare, and I couldn’t awake
Stuck in your web of deceit, you had me entangled
Then sucked the life out of me as I was being strangled
You did it all with joy, no remorse for my well-being
Then you blamed me for being blind and not seeing
Betrayal is a feeling that hurts to the core
It can leave you wanting to even the score
But the goodness in me shielded my heart from turning
Even when it awakened something in me that wouldn’t stop burning
You took it a step further, and to the world, you played victim
And it’s only until you snake them that they realize you tricked them
Disloyal to all, even to your own spirit
The tables must turn, and you don’t even fear it
Ending betrayal is like cutting the head off the snake
But in the end, you learn the difference between what’s real…and what’s fake
